Goin' up to the spirit in the sky

Hello Friends!  First I want to mention that I am an animal lover and would never harm a creature.  My last blog post might have scared a few people with the title "Javelina Makes A Nice Pair of Gloves".  Also, my goats are purely pets.  No milking, breeding or any animal cruelty.  My pets are brushed, fed, played with and spoiled.  Just wanted to clear that issue up first.  I can't believe I haven't blogged in almost a month.  The illness hit me again and I was unable to even look at the computer without feeling delirious, dizzy and nauseous.  I'm sure I've missed some great post from other bloggers.

I did manage to attend an estate sale I was invited to last week.  I will drag my sick body out of the house rain or shine for a big sale.  I bought this 70's dress for $1.00!

After being cooped up for so long, I went for a nice walk along the Pevine Trail in the Granite Dells.  It's a beautiful area with large granite rock formations.

The trail used to be railroad tracks for the Santa Fe, Prescott and Phoenix  line that is now extinct.  Twenty five years ago, we used to walk along the tracts and pull up old date nails from the rails.  We sort of made a game of it with the kids, finding dates from the 1920's and 30's.

Javalina Makes A Nice Pair of Leather Gloves

According to Wikipedia.....

 Javelina or Peccary have soft and supple skin perfect for making leather gloves!  I wouldn't want to find out.  This herd was in my yard.  They seem to come out searching for food when the weather is going to be bad.  I am hoping for spring, but the weather man say's we might get another storm.

I'm afraid of these guys, but can't resist spying on them.

Peccaries are omnivores (just found that tidbit out on Wiki).
They will eat small animals....did not know!
Thought they were vegetarians.

Chuckles we need to put the fencing up soon!

Sometimes if you go outside late at night, say to smoke or something you might here a grunting pig-like sound.  Or you might smell a skunk, but no...it's a Javelina.

Food is Love

So, the princess has been home from college all week because she has been sick and couldn't take care of herself...ha ha.  I rushed right up and brought her home.
Here's a photo of us when we were well and happy in NYC.
We've had another snow storm and have been lounging in pajamas or muumuu's (my favorite home attire).  Lot's of home cooking for all the sickies.

Google Eyed Vintage Valentines from my hubby a few years ago.  The arms, legs and eyes move.  I keep them in my favorite antique pigskin boxes.  The scarf underneath is the only vintage find from this weeks thrift store....it's a VERA.

I bought 16 of these antique open salts from Czechoslovakia a few years ago at an estate sale.  I forgot about them, boxed them up for the future.  I pulled them out to sell on ebay...no use having things stored away if I'm not going to use them.

Bridge Over Troubled Water

When you are an atheist where do turn in times of trouble?  It's even harder being brought up in a strict Protestant religion, that you don't believe in anymore.  The only training you had was to pray to god.  Now who do you turn to.

It's the other people.  The interference of too many problems from the people around you.
The constant stain they put on you.  Siblings mostly.

But nothing compares to the hell this little girl was put through.  True story of an unwanted Chinese girl.  My heart breaks for her.  Mean, mean abusive step-mother.  Uncaring father.  Abusive and mean siblings.  I would like to go kick their asses.

On a lighter note..........first time at making Spring Rolls.  I think they turned out alright.
Filled with mint, basil, carrots, cucumber, red peppers, green onion, cilantro and few noodles for substance.  Served with peanut satay sauce.

Chatelaine for the Woman of the Castle

The weekend was off to a great start with spicy Indian food and cocktails.
I had Mushroom Mattar, Hubs had Shrimp Curry and Naan.
Usually I order medium hotness, but for some reason I ordered HOT and was it ever!
My stomach let me know it was too hot all night.

These local guys played beautiful music with a Spanish influence.

This is the Chatelaine I mentioned in my last blog.
I took it out of my booth, since it hasn't sold in 2 years.
I probably will try to sell it on ebay.

A chatelaine is a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain is mounted with a useful household appendage such as scissors, thimble, watch, key, vinaigrette, household seal, etc.^[1]

Chatelaines were worn by many housekeepers in the 19th century^[2] and in the 16th century Dutch Republic,^{[citation needed]} where they were typically used as watch chains for the most wealthy. Similar jewellery was also worn by Anglo Saxon women, as seen from the burial record, but its function is uncertain. The name chatelaine derives from the French term châtelaine and was originally used disparagingly, as it referred to a device designed to have all the tools necessary for the woman of the household to sort out any problem she may encounter in her day, like a fraying curtain.

Here I tried to show the intricate details.    The middle item is a scent bottle with a glass dauber and turquoise on the top.  One tube is probably a needle case.  The other one I don't know what it was used for, maybe drugs?  The entire piece is Sterling Silver.

I finally finished getting my booth back in order and brought a few things home to sell online.

Today I slept in really late, I'm a night owl.  The afternoon was spent playing with the goats and doing some yard work.

Everyone is excited about the SuperBowl tomorrow, but I am not that into football unless the Steelers are playing.  I will say I think the Ravens will win because the quarter-back Falco is cute.

So I'll be grocery shopping for the week on Sunday instead of going to a SuperBowl party.
